My Trip Across Most of America

So...I have been a little busy lately, mostly driving from Baker City, OR to a town called Roach in Missouri. If our collage of choice wasn't located here, then there would be no way that I would want to live in MO, even for a year. As I was traveling I was trying to see interesting sites that I could comment on in this posting. It took us a week to get crossed so I will see if I can remember everything that I saw...
Baker City, OR...Left at the butt-crack of dawn. I am really going to miss that place. It is high-desert area and the weather is wonderful. No humidity at all. Might get to 100 in the summer, but cools down to 60's at night. Total of maybe 15" of rain a year. Snow Boarding less then an hour away in the winter...Oregon rocks.
Idaho. Ok state. We just drove through the southern end of it. Pretty boring. The north part of the state is really nice, kind of like Oregon. We were only in it for about four hours, so it wasn't too bad.
Utah. I have been through beautiful parts of this state. Northern part is lousy. The thing that stood out to me the most are the mormons. I know Utah is Mormon Mecca, but "Good Gravy". We spent a few days in Huntsville. One little valley. There were four temples. In each temple are 3-4 wards, or congregations that meet at different times during the week. I am all for our rights to worship as we please, but it just seemed creepy to see a religion that consumes so much of your time. All their social lives revolve around the church, not to mention their work and everything else. What I saw, it reminded me more of a cult then a religion.
Wyoming...I have never had a good experience in WY. I think the state hates me. I have had two cars break down there, and other things happen when I tried to live there. As soon as I crossed the border I noticed that the gas was $1.99 per gallon! That is the cheapest I have seen it in over a year! Then the news comes on and they are whinning about how gas was as $2.21 the other week, the highest ever!!! WHAAA... it has been consistently at $2.50 in Oregon. I don't want to hear it!!!
Ok, this is getting long. I have three more states to talk about so I am going to save it for later.

I'm going to assume that I may cuss as much as I like on this site. So...yea... I got nothing else. Um.. Fuck. There. I said it. Oh yea, 1.99 is fucking amazing. Kinda goes to show you that the price is gas has squat to do with the state of the country. It has to do with the state. period. Just the state it's in.

states rights and feds rights...a battle going on since the begining of America...you'd think we'd have it figured out by now.
I am going on a trip too, only we're going opposite of you: west. I don't think we're gonna make it to Oregon, wish I could, sounds like a beautiful place. Have fun at your 'school of choice'!

Just finished reading "The Hope" and "The Glory"--fictionalized account of the modern history of Israel--by Herman Wouk, author of the "Winds of War trilogy. Highly recommend.
